Firefighters will continue to secure and established a boundary line on the south and east sides of the SA Fire and scout the north and west sides for containment options. Activity and growth on the fire will increase today due to drier conditions and continuous dry grass. The fire’s progression is to the north but remains approximately 5 miles southwest of Mayer and 3 miles northwest of Cleator. Smoke will be visible to motorists on HWY 69, I-17 and surrounding communities.
Fire managers take into consideration many factors when deciding what actions to take in suppressing fire including firefighter and public safety, location, fuels, terrain, current and forecast weather, potential fire spread and smoke impacts. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
