We know how it goes: Before the boot hits the pavement at the Whiskey Row Boot Drop in downtown Prescott and the Pinecone lowers in Flagstaff, each of us will have pondered and made one or more New Year’s resolutions. We reflect and resolve; we promise ourselves to improve our quality of life. The Good News: Most of us see the beginning of a new year as a time to hit the reset button. The new year offers an opportunity to review the past year and determine what we want to change in the coming … [Read more...] about Massage: One Resolution That Helps You Keep Others

What do all of these problems have in common? They are all symptomatic of a … [Read more...] about When Homes, Buildings Fall Short
Encouraging All to Save for Retirement
More people are saving more money for retirement than they have in the past few decades, according to a recent report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office. That’s great news! Now, for the not-so-great news. The report, titled “Retirement Security: Income and Wealth Disparities Continue through Old Age,” found that there’s still a lot of ground to cover to get retirement savings where they may need to be. The report found that 30 years ago, in 1989, about 4% of low-income … [Read more...] about Encouraging All to Save for Retirement
Practicing Patient-Center, Goal-Directed Care
Do you currently see a doctor or nurse practitioner with whom you set specific health goals? Does your doctor/nurse practitioner inform you about your medications, and educate you about the conditions in which you are receiving treatment? I hope so, because that is what we are supposed to do. Not too many years ago, the medical field started a trend toward patient-centered care, which is medical practice that emphasizes the patient and his or her needs. The Institute of Medicine, a non-profit … [Read more...] about Practicing Patient-Center, Goal-Directed Care
ERAU Winter Graduates Urged to Soar

Bringing Your 2020 Vision into Focus
Many of us consider the stroke of midnight into the New Year to be some sort of magical reset button that comes with snow flurries and a kiss. I happen to be one of them. However, turning that magical moment into everyday life usually takes a little more than fairy dust, like a bold decision, courage, perseverance and a pathologically unshakeable belief that what you want to achieve is not only possible, it’s inevitable, and it’s already here. Clean Up That Lens It’s hard to have 20/20 … [Read more...] about Bringing Your 2020 Vision into Focus
Grand Canyon Saddle Maker Enjoying the Ride
Across from the Xanterra South Rim is a mule barn sitting on an inconspicuous lot at the Grand Canyon Village. The historic building was a blacksmith’s shop. Inside, the old wooden floors show their age, while the aroma of worked leather and mules give away its purpose. This is Joe Marshall’s territory: the Saddle Maker’s shop. Neatly arranged are leather straps and scraps, saddles, tools, machinery, a bottle of soda and a bag of chips. Like a Western Santa in his workshop, Marshall … [Read more...] about Grand Canyon Saddle Maker Enjoying the Ride
