Sometimes Great Leaders Wear Tutus
Nearly 10 years ago, Jessica Barker began teaching her friend’s 3-year-old twins how to spin, point their toes and curtsy. She expected, over time, they would be able to memorize a few steps and string them together to music. What she didn’t expect was the confidence and determination that began to appear on the little ballerinas’ faces. And, that was her “A-ha moment.” Barker was hooked. She found herself wanting to invest more time in teaching dance. Soon, she had 10 little ladies leaping … [Read more...] about Sometimes Great Leaders Wear Tutus
Drake Cement Expansion Leads to Relocation of Cemetery
The forthcoming multi-million-dollar expansion of the Drake Cement plant has an interesting side effect, as a more than a century-old Cedar Glade Cemetery must be relocated. Currently, the cemetery, which has 89 graves of pioneer families from the surrounding area, is located in what is virtually the middle of the nine-year old cement manufacturing plant. David Chavez, Drake’s vice president for environment, health and safety and compliance, said the expansion plans are such that the … [Read more...] about Drake Cement Expansion Leads to Relocation of Cemetery

Candles Offer Pops of Color, Fragrance, Beauty
To everything there is a season…” Officially, spring begins on the 20th of this month, so naturally, it’s a good time to talk about gardens, flowers and such. Here in Arizona, we are somewhat limited – unlike California or Hawaii where everything grows so easily – we have to find ways to nurture nature a bit. We may also have to fend off shrubbery-munching deer and garden-stomping javelina. Have no fear – candles are here. Your garden may not have the blooms or fragrances you have been … [Read more...] about Candles Offer Pops of Color, Fragrance, Beauty

As is the case with most of these events, Sunday tapered off toward the afternoon and many people and vendors headed for home. If you’re … [Read more...] about Comparing Costs for Private Pilot Training
