Remembering Granite Mountain Hotshots
As 24-year Prescott residents, my wife and I consider Prescott our home, and the folks who live here are like family. Five years ago, on June 30, 2013, our entire family was devastated by the news that 19 young men lost their lives battling the Yarnell Hill fire. These brave men were part of the Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew and gave their lives protecting our community. As Prescott grieved, the nation and the world reached out to offer condolences and solidarity with our fire … [Read more...] about Remembering Granite Mountain Hotshots
Let the Event Season Begin
Prescott is one town that takes its events and recreation seriously. Beginning in April, with the Whiskey Off-Road, through the Boot Drop on New Year’s Eve, virtually every weekend is packed with events. In June through July, we have a series of Prescott’s signature events: The Prescott Bluegrass Festival, the Frontier Days Parade and the Worlds’ Oldest Rodeo. The … [Read more...] about Let the Event Season Begin

Pete Gordon is the Fuels, Fire and Aviation Staff Officer for the Prescott National Forest. His team at the USFS Fire Center at the Ernest A. Love Airfield in Prescott is … [Read more...] about Preparing for Fire Season
Recognizing Prescott’s Natural Bounty and Beauty
Prescott is blessed with a unique setting and natural beauty. Our lakes and trails, our mountain vistas, the Prescott National Forest, open range, and the stunning Granite Dells make Prescott a favorite for visitors and the reason many of us moved here. It is incumbent upon the City of Prescott and our partners in Yavapai County and the National Forest to care for, preserve, maintain and make accessible these natural resources for present and future generations. The city continues to seek … [Read more...] about Recognizing Prescott’s Natural Bounty and Beauty
Moving Forward Together
Throughout my campaign, I emphasized that we live in a unique and vibrant community. The air is clean, the sky is blue, our surroundings are serene and those who live here are filled with energy, optimism and kindness. There is no mystery as to why our community is on everyone’s “best places to live” list. It is why all of us chose to live in Prescott. My goal as mayor is to preserve this reality of Prescott while at the same time enhancing its appeal. To accomplish that vision, we must stop … [Read more...] about Moving Forward Together
