The Broken Horn D Ranch is pleased to announce their USDA Process Verified Grass Fed Beef is now available at the Prescott Farmers Market. The Market is held every Saturday, 7:30am to noon, at the Yavapai College through October. In the winter months, the Prescott Farmers Market moves to Walgreens at 1310 Willow Creek Road.
All beef sold by the Broken Horn D Ranch comes from Criollo cattle, born and raised on the 3,000 acre ranch in Yavapai County. Criollo cattle are of Spanish origin; they thrive in Arizona’s arid climate and have fine muscle fibers, much like elk or buffalo. The beef is USDA Process Verified, 100% Grass Fed, No Hormones, No Antibiotics, No Animal By-Products, ever for the life of the animal. All the beef is dry aged a minimum of 14 days before being cut, double wrapped and frozen. Broken Horn D Ranch offers a wide variety of cuts, including steaks, roasts, ground beef, patties and sausage as well as organ meats and bones.
Grass fed beef has many well documented health benefits over feedlot finished beef. It is higher in protein, vitamin E, omega 3’s, and creatine. Grass fed beef is lower in fat and calories, it is so lean, studies have shown it can actually lower your cholesterol level (LDL). If you change nothing else in your diet, just by switching to grass fed beef you will save 17,733 calories a year and lose 6 pounds!
