We all celebrate our individual cultures and food traditions as a major part of each holiday. Herbs are a natural and normal part of my focus, as our company includes herbs in our recipes and specifically, winter holiday cooking.
Adding herbs, fresh or dry, enhances the flavor of food as well as offers health benefits.
During these crazy times, we can all use as many healthy options to keep our immune systems in tip-top shape.
Herbs can be consumed in teas, soups, broths, stews and more. Smelling the aroma of herbs as you layer on essential oils can definitely boost the immune system.
My herbal instructor told me that spending time with our herbs is a perfect way to slow down, catch our breath and become involved in creating some new traditions.
I like to incorporate herbs as we gear up for the holidays.
Tips:
Add herbs to sugar cookie and shortbread recipes.
Infuse olive oil and give as gifts.
Consider decorating with herbs and add a healthy fragrance to your winter holiday.
Cut herbs and bundle them with holiday ribbon or cord and decorate holiday packages.
Place your favorite herbs in a jar and give to co-workers. The recipient will be reminded of the heartfelt gift each time they are cooking.
I love having herbs around me. Running my fingers through bushes of mint, rosemary and thyme simply helps me relax and be inspired.
Enjoy the following herbal broth recipe as you move throughout your day.
